What is a Water Fasting Diet or Water Fasting Program ?

Calling something a fasting diet is quite a misnomer. While a diet implies the use of food or liquids as a way to provide a person with vitamins and nutrients while they follow a path toward weight loss or healthier eating habits, a fast is a program in which no solid food is eaten at all and only liquid is ingested. Fasts can accomplish the same goals as a diet but are usually a much more intense experience for the body. A water fasting diet or water fasting program then is a program in which the person eschews all solid food and only drinks water to give them a sense of fullness. A person can follow a water fasting diet for up to forty days before his body will be harmed.

If you have never fasted before, you will want to try a single day of the water fasting diet before committing to an entire water fasting program. This is a good way to find out if you can truly handle continuing on with the fast. For people who have naturally quick metabolisms, the water fasting program will be much harder as their bodies might not be able to keep up with it.

If you choose to follow the water fasting program you will want to use distilled water. Distilled water has been given magnetic properties that will be of great aid in the flushing out of the body's toxins. The distilled water will also help the body use up the vitamins, nutrients and protein that it has stored so people following the water fasting diet will not need to worry about the loss of vital elements.

When committing to a water fasting diet, it is a good idea to do a juice fast for a few days before to get your body used to the lack of solid food intake and again for a few days after the water fasting program to readjust the body to the intake of weightier materials. It is never a good idea to enter a water fast cold turkey and it is an even worse idea to try to eat a lot of solid food after a water fast. In fact, engaging in a full meal at the end of a water fast is a good way to make yourself sick.

The water fasting diet can be a good way for people to jump start a weight loss process. By fasting, the body will burn as much as a pound a day just by drinking water. Water does not contain any calories and the absorption of the water and the ridding of toxins takes no energy on the part of your body-the water itself does all of the work. This means that by drinking water, you are causing your body to burn calories without replacing them.

Make sure to talk to your doctor before embarking on the water fasting diet. Water fasting programs should be taken very seriously and together you and your doctor can decide if your body will be able to handle it.

Water is a natural appetite suppressant. It is the safest way to keep your appetite down as it will make you feel full and flush itself out of your system through urination and sweat. This isn't to say that you should just drink water all of the time and not eat food if you are trying to lose weight, but drinking water is a way to make your stomach feel more full than it is.

The water that is on the planet now is thought to be the water that was on the planet even before the dinosaurs walked around. This is because water is mostly self sustaining. It is also the only element that exists in all three natural states: solid, liquid and gas.
