The water quality association is a non profit, international trade association that represents the small community, the commercial, the industrial and even the residential water treatment industries. The water quality association is an organization that works very hard to represent the different areas of the water industry itself and its mission is to find a way to serve everyone interested in the quality of water. The headquarters are located in Lisle, Illinois.
The first set of bylaws adopted by the water quality association was written in September of 1985 and was last amended in 2003. The entire book of bylaws spans twenty one pages and spells out everything that the water quality association stands for and what it wants to accomplish.
The goals of this association are:
" To cultivate services and programs that will improve the economic as well as the efficient performance of the water industry.
" To be a representative of the water industry's interests when in contact with governmental and other kinds of organizations as well as when in contact with the public.
" To gather together, interpret, publish as well as to disseminate information that is relevant to the water industry to the government as well as to the public.
" To encourage the use of the different products and services provided by the water industry
" To both analyze as well as inform the members of the association of conditions that might be affecting the industry
" To conduct research and educational activities.
The association also features a list of products that have been approved for personal use. These are products that have both met as well as have exceeded the industry's standards for the material safety, structural integrity and contaminant reduction of water. These products include various water softeners, water filters, drinking water systems, drinking water treatment units and systems, water distillation systems and circulation system components.
The association has also founded the Water Quality Research Foundation, which is a foundation that was made more than fifty years ago with the goal to conduct scientific research that was related to the improvement of water quality. This is an organization that favors independent research and gets much of its funding from donations from both individuals as well as corporations. The Foundation gets money from bequests, insurance policies (in which the foundation has been named the benefactor), fundraising events and an endowment campaign as well as donations.
Enrollment into the water quality association is not cheap, but it carries many benefits. In addition to the respect your business will get as a member of this association, your business will also qualify for marketplace protection, professional certification, product certification, tech support, and you will be able to use the association's logo in your advertising. This foundation is relatively new, but it is committed to doing good work for the water industry. By being a member you will show the public that you, too, are interested in the betterment of the water quality offered by your company.
